Passler also appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport Cas. They rejected the appeal, but now the Italian Anti-Doping Organization’s appeal court has made a different decision.
“The result allows the athlete to take part in the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan Cortina. Passler will be reunited with his teammates from Monday, February 16,” the Italian winter sports federation wrote on its website.
When DN spoke to the sports director of the Italian Winter Sports Federation Klaus Höllrigl last week, he said that the positive test was a shock – for him, for the team and between the lines for Passler himself.
“It came as a complete surprise and of course hit us like a bomb,” Klaus Höllrigl told DN.
– Then it was important to set the right course immediately: We support Rebecca and want to get to the bottom of the matter.
Höllrigl said doctors and lawyers were working to figure out how the 24-year-old could test positive for a substance classified as doping that was previously used by female athletes to lose weight and, according to AFP, also to treat breast cancer.
“I’m sure she didn’t do anything intentionally,” said Höllrigl.
