Poromaa is hoping for another gold for Wallberg
Next up on the cross-country courses is the 10-kilometer freestyle, for the women on Thursday and for the men on Friday. One of those chosen is William Poromaa, who is good friends with mogul skier Walter Wallberg.
Wallberg’s possible final run clashes with the women’s cross-country race. Poromaa will screen on two screens.
How nervous are you for him compared to when you’re on the starting line yourself?
– You’re nervous. I checked the qualifications and it’s so special with the hump that they have a chance. But you try not to get too nervous and rub off on him, he says about the daily conversations between them.
Poromaa believes Wallberg can defend his gold against Beijing despite major back problems during the season.
He isn’t particularly keen on trying out his friend’s sport. He saw the national moguls team competing in Ruka, Finland, and was immediately discouraged.
– It’s absolute madness, so damn steep and it goes so damn fast. They had killed themselves.
Poromaa also had a difficult season, including due to a rib injury.
– We supported each other and tried to only look forward. The Olympics were always the goal for both of us and now we’re here and we’re going to try to make the best of it.
Poromaa himself took eleventh place in the skiathlon on Sunday, but said the freestyle part went best.
– Klæbo has been absolutely incredible over the distances so far, so you have to be fast if you want to be at the front on Friday.
Other selected freestyle skaters include: Frida Karlsson, Ebba Anderssom, Moa Ilar, Emma Ribom, Gustaf Berglund, Edvin Anger and Truls Gisselman.
Canada’s stars left the Olympic Village and moved into hotels
When the Swedish players happily talk about how much they enjoy the Olympic Village – and how it reminds them of their days as juniors when they traveled around for camps and games – the Canadian stars have already moved on.
After two nights in the village, where two players share a room, they packed up and moved to a hotel in Milan instead.
It must be said that it was decided in advance and has nothing to do with how they enjoyed themselves on those two nights.
The reasoning behind this is that this was done in both 2010 and 2014 when there were two consecutive Canadian gold medals.
“It’s not a big deal,” said Canada general manager Doug Armstrong when asked about it after a training session in the Olympic city.
“We want to win gold and put ourselves in the best position to do so,” Canadian goalkeeper Logan Thompson told sportsnet.com.
Can stay as Olympic director despite Epstein connection

When numerous new documents were published in connection with the investigation into the dead sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the chairman of the organization for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Casey Wasserman, was also included in the material.
This was due to the intimate email correspondence he had had with Epstein’s accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell. However, he stated that he had no personal or business relationship with Epstein.
“I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell, which occurred over two decades ago, long before her terrible crimes came to light,” Wasserman wrote in a statement.
It is now clear that Wasserman will remain in charge of the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in just over two years. This is announced by the Executive Committee for LA2028, which has carried out its own investigation, reports the BBC, among others.
