In connection with the American president’s invitation to invite the gold medal-winning men’s team to the White House, he added that he also had to invite the women to avoid being “accused.”

Several players laughed at the joke, but now Boston star Charlie McAvoy, among others, regrets it.

    – I’m definitely sorry for how we reacted at that moment. But things happened very quickly there, he says.

Matthew Tkachuk, who is in Florida every day, points out how close the two teams are.

“We love the women’s team and the women’s team loves us,” he said.

The ladies later thanked her No to the invitation.

Team captain Hilary Knight, who was competing in her fifth consecutive Olympic Games in Milan, commented on the events earlier this week.

    – We really prefer to focus on what we have achieved and the double gold medal won by the men and women, and not diminish it with tasteless jokes.

Also during a press conference with her team PWHL Team Seattle Torrent, Hilary Knight was asked several questions about Trump’s invitation and his way of expressing himself.

    She then replied:

    – It is not “my responsibility” to explain other people’s behavior.
