Sometimes you can still wonder when Stockholm’s hamburger selection will be saturated.
However, there may be a certain pickiness these days. If you’re paying more for a meat sandwich than you would at the fast food chains, you want value for money. That’s not always the case. Burger and Pastrami or Bap, which opened in 2017 on Linnégatan with New York as a source of inspiration, is one of the places that maintains this style. The menu is short and to the point, featuring seven types of hamburgers (including two vegetarian versions) and a pairing with pastrami – the base is Swedish brisket that’s been marinated and smoked until the meat is properly tender.
Among the burgers that are available as 150 or 200 grams, there are, for example BBQ Swey (145/170 SEK), where meat and bread are accompanied by aged cheese, candied bacon, cucumbers, red onions, mayonnaise and BBQ sauce. Consistent and orderly. Other varieties are flavored with Dijon or truffle. The sides are of the standard variety and straight to the point, with fries and coleslaw, onions and jalapeño, and a dozen dipping sauces.
Anyone who goes out to eat burgers hardly expects fine dining, which is not what you get here, but you do get well-selected ingredients and dishes that are always fresh, freshly prepared and carefully prepared.
For maximum satiety, you can serve a milkshake with a good portion of whipped cream as a complement. The evening is over.
