Lecture – Celebrated and hated regent turns 400

“Queen Kristina – Fragment, Material, Eternity”

    Livrustkammaren, Thursday, March 5th, 6-7 p.m.

This year, Queen Kristina’s 400th birthday will be celebrated with concerts, lectures, balls and banquets in the spirit of the 17th century. Kristina, celebrated and controversial at the same time, continues to fascinate today. She went her own way: refused to marry, renounced the throne, converted to Catholicism and left Sweden.
Next Thursday, Superintendent Sofia Nestor will tell about the last days of the regent, the funeral in St. Peter’s Church and the opening of the grave in 1965, when textile fragments and a lock of hair were brought to the Livrustkammaren. The finds are shown in the museum’s exhibition. You can buy a ticket for the lecture here.
