An unmistakable smell of fish spreads within a radius of ten meters in front of the entrance. Through the large window of the restaurant you can see a place in full swing where food from the sea is prepared in such a way that it can be felt with all the senses.
For Lennart & Bror, an emphasis on raw materials is an integral part of the brand, just as it was at the restaurant’s original meat deli just a few blocks away.
Tegnérgatan is crowded and sometimes the noise level gets muddy – but if the goal is to create a place where you can eat seafood in a relaxed atmosphere, you’re successful. Tuna melts, lobster rolls and oysters are sold as staples – but more memorable experiences come from the seafood menu that forms the backbone of the menu. Everything is served the same and without any frills: with sauce, green salad, fries.
The selection depends on availability. You may come across aquatic animals such as dora, octopus, turbot and cod. The latter (SEK 375) is a carefully prepared, perfectly grilled cod fillet with a lobster bisque. “Pgm” or scallops (595 SEK) are served au gratin in a creamy sauce and covered with a layer of chopped chives – also delicious, although the mollusks are probably best eaten in the wild.
It’s not difficult to have a good time here, but the relaxed atmosphere is tricky – temptation quickly ruins the bill.
