Ebba Andersson has decided to join her parents Per-Ola Andersson and Åsa Lundmark in Sollefteå for the last three championships. It gave her security and a feeling of calm – and of course great shape. She can now add four Olympic medals to the seven medals she won at the World Championships in Planica and Trondheim.
– Things went well during these times, I have to say.
What’s in the water in Sollefteå?
– I don’t know, but it’s something. “It’s actually something,” says Per-Ola Andersson and laughs.
It is a very proud father who explains that his daughter followed her plan for the race to the letter.
– But the way she does it. She sets the tone.
Ebba Andersson has himself said she wanted revenge for the fall in the relay. Then Per-Ola had told her not to be a coward going downhill – which she did anyway.
– What she did back then wasn’t good, but after that she did everything right. We must not forget that. She received so much love from the Swedish people and also from the team members and management that she was able to tie the knot.
Do you think many people will give her this gold after what happened?
– I hope so.
Spouse Gustaf Berglund stood along the route in the forest and never saw the finish line.
– The tears come out from behind the glasses when you enter the stadium and see that her name is at the top. It’s a cool feeling to see her name up there. Incredible.

He had time to worry a little when Andersson was so clearly in charge at the start because she had previously blown herself up and been driven away.
– At the same time, she wouldn’t have been so active in the beginning if it didn’t feel good. So you had a little bit of a feeling that it was going to go well, that she had a good feeling. It’s clear that she’s tired towards the end, but what sets her apart from many others here is that she technically keeps her skating technique together very well. Very impressive.
National team manager Anders Byström I only have words of praise for today’s woman.
– It’s great with a five mile win. So it’s big. She had really made up her mind today. You notice this immediately on the first climb. And the way she does it later really has a Johan Olsson flair. Val di Fiemme, I knew it, our five-mile village.
At the 2013 World Cup, Olsson opted for an early start and then went solo towards the gold medal.
– It’s fantastic that we win five gold medals. It’s sad about the relay considering we could have won all the gold again. But we have to try again in Falun.
