Cimberly’s disco-pop song “Eternity” was voted fourth in the Melodifestivalklubben audience poll conducted after the genre representative on Friday.
The betting shops were predicting a third place finish, but Cimberly increased her energy with each repetition and ended up securing one of the final places in the side competition in Malmö. Once it was clear, it exploded for the 21-year-old making his debut.
– It feels crazy. “I didn’t think so,” she said through tears late Saturday evening.
According to Cimberly, the post is about not depending on someone else to believe in yourself, a clear reference to an earlier version of yourself.
Before the competition, Cimberly expressed that she doubted herself after winning Idol 2023 and that the song was inspired “from that time.”
– Do I deserve this?” There were a few such feelings and thoughts floating around.
Does she still have these thoughts or does she think she’s earned a spot in the finale?
“God, I might not know,” Cimberly said at the afterparty, thinking for a moment.
– I haven’t answered this question all evening, but now I will. Yes, I think so. I fought hard.
Except Cimberly is gone The Örebro band Smash into Pieces also reached the final, while Meira Omar secured a place in the final with her contribution “Dooset daram”.
Matilda Källén from DN summed up the evening as follows: “The competition will not go down in history, but the fact that Cimberly also took a last place was unexpected and pleasing.”
