SVT’s flamboyant USA correspondent, Carl Fridh Kleberg, reports from Washington and believes that all those who had various conspiracy theories about a conspiracy between financier Jeffrey Epstein and the establishment have now run their course. Everyone from right to left, he says in one paragraph – it is completely unclear who they are.
Do you think that after several years of this Epstein series he can report such depth. Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in 2019 and took his own life. That was only seven years ago.
And the analysis is particularly relevant: It’s hardly a conspiracy theory these days because it’s not even a theory.
No, there is nothing left of a conspiracy theory when all the facts come to light and all suspicions are confirmed: Epstein, the American establishment and, beyond that, a global network have worked together when it comes to economics, finance, politics and sex.
There is no longer any doubt about that. In other words: The conspiracy theories are dead. Reality is merciless – and has won. Carl Fridh Kleberg and SVT are lagging behind. Nothing more. Carl Fridh Kleberg isn’t the hottest Washington Corre we’ve had over the years.
Otherwise, SVT’s correspondents are currently first class
In contrast to SVT’s new Russia correspondence, which is based in Riga, they want to take countermeasures as quickly as possible. Rebecca Haimi is active, talented, courageous and always in touch with reality. She gets to know people, doesn’t stand frozen in front of an official building and talk about the obvious. For example, your recent review of Russia’s united political opposition was brilliant and insightful in all its simplicity. Available to participate on SVT Play.
SVT correspondents Tomas Thorén, who is otherwise top-class at the moment, moved to Berlin from Turkey and replaced the rather tired Christoffer Wendick. Niklas Svensson has replaced another who wore the leather for a long time in Brussels, Ulrika Bergsten.
As expected, Stefan Åsberg (Asia), Tigran Feiler (Latin America), Johan Ripås (Africa), Gilda Hamidi-Nia (Middle East) and Sofia Yohannes (Fridh Kleberg’s colleague in the USA) travel frequently and maintain an extremely high minimum level – which is often the case. When there is a high low, the spikes automatically occur at regular intervals.
No, I don’t believe in 100% “objective” reporting – but journalists as activists are always 100% unsuccessful
And as I said, all of the above are best in reality, in everyday life, and rarely fall into the trap of becoming activists instead of journalists on one sensitive political issue or another.
I understand journalists who are hard hit by the harsh environment in which they have to work and the terrible wars they have to report on, but if they can no longer separate their work from their own feelings and sympathies, then in my opinion they are unsuitable for the job of reporter.

The fact is that with her irresponsible gambling (in consultation with lousy advisors) she pretty much ruined the entire downhill competition for all the other riders
A surveillance that Unfortunately, Lindsey Vonn’s fall in Sunday’s Olympic steeplechase was both messy and unvarnished. It hurt to watch and it was tragic – but of course if she had torn her cruciate ligament she wouldn’t have been on the slopes at all at the age of 41.
The coverage of this in the Swedish media was euphemistic and “admiring”.
The fact is, it’s absolutely blatant that with her irresponsible gambling (in consultation with lousy advisors) she pretty much ruined the entire downhill competition for all other drivers. There was a long pause and all reporting subsequently focused on the case. The three medalists hardly cared because they invested almost all of their waking hours for the last four years in this special individual ride. They fell completely into the shadow of radio and media.
In the SVT Olympic studio, no one could speak clearly.
It was doubly sad – and a regrettable mistake. Sad.
