“This satanic art hangs in the EU building in Brussels. Evil runs DEEP!” writes Alex Jones on X. Below the text he posted a collage showing four paintings by the Swedish artist Lena Cronqvist.
Several of the paintings, including “Operation II” (2001), show two children cutting up a baby.
However, art by Lena Cronqvist is not currently on display in the EU Parliament, although it will be during the Swedish EU Council Presidency in 2023. “Operation II” was not on display in the exhibition, but was met with some criticism, including a question about the suitability of the works, which was received by the EU Commission in March 2023.
Lena Cronqvist, the died last year, was one of Sweden’s most famous artists. She became known for exploring themes of motherhood and growing up in her art. The paintings are full of symbols and often show girls in seemingly everyday and playful, but at the same time frightening or grotesque situations.
Today, Lena Cronqvist’s artworks are sold for millions of crowns.
