On Tiktok, one user after another promises a monthly income of up to 100,000 SEK for those who complete the Nextlevel course and learn affiliate marketing. They did it themselves and succeeded – and now want to teach others how to do it.
Several people who have purchased the course tell DN about big promises and sales pitches where, during the conversation, you are asked to sign documents for a loan of SEK 42,800, the cost of the course. To gain insight into the recruiting process, DN’s reporter books a free video meeting with a salesperson from the company behind the course, without telling them she’s a journalist.
A young man appears on the screen. He tells us that he is in Norrköping and will find out in the course of the conversation whether our reporter fits into their plan.
He tells us that it is reasonable The first interim goal is for the DN reporter, who claims to be a student, to earn 20,000 to 30,000 crowns a month. That’s a significantly higher sum than any course participant DN is talking about would have even come close to earning.
After a year, this number will increase to SEK 100,000 per month if only the DN reporter follows the process taught in the course.
– And it’s not something I just say because it sounds good, but it’s exactly the time it took me and Edvin (Cederqvist, the founder) to get there. And we helped everyone else along the way.
Several course participants who DN spoke to us and says that one of the few ways to earn the course fee is to resell the course itself. DN’s reporter asks the seller if people who post videos on Tiktok make money this way. She uses one of the Tiktok accounts as an example.
“No, she mainly pointed out that she learned from us,” says the saleswoman.
But you can make money marketing your course?
– You can do that. We have our own affiliate program. To apply, however, you must first demonstrate that you have succeeded with another external product.
The influencer Johan Hedbergalso known as Matgeek, runs one of Sweden’s largest food channels on YouTube and has been generating income from affiliate marketing as part of his business for over ten years.
It accounts for a relatively small portion of his total sales and serves primarily as a bonus.
– It’s like the old fashioned way of working with affiliate marketing. I link to things that I think are good, a knife or a glass or other products that I can stand behind, and then I get a commission for what is sold through my links. That’s it.
He was involved in marketing the Nextlevel course and painted a future picture for those who would like to purchase the course.
– Yeah, well, it’s impressive, he says sarcastically, before continuing:
-You can surely make so much money through affiliate marketing. But the people they focus on when selling these courses are beginners, regular young people, and it takes something completely different to reach that level.
A regular commission In his experience, the rate for affiliate collaboration is around 10 percent.
– This means that you should be able to generate a million in sales for a company. And I understand that the people buying this course are people who aren’t particularly interested in social media today. And if you don’t have a large following, you don’t have a large customer base. Then I don’t really understand how I can sell these volumes.
E-commerce consultant Anna Nordlander says the same thing. She works as a consultant and specialist in sales through Amazon, which has one of the world’s largest affiliate programs.
– Then it must be a huge volume. There may be someone who can do something like this, but I think it’s difficult for the vast majority of people. Affiliate marketing can be a great extra if you already have a following and are doing this as a little bonus. Here you get $50, maybe $100 for another month or something like that. But I have a very hard time seeing that it would be a path to wealth, she says.
Edvin Cederqvist, Those who run the company that sells Nextlevel say the numbers quoted in the sales pitch are not exaggerated.
– Everyone starts somewhere and we don’t promise that you’ll come in as a newbie and just make money. Once, even as an inexperienced person, I started from scratch. In my program, I don’t say that anyone who promotes a particular pair of socks will become a millionaire. You need to find problems in the market that people want to solve and market relevant products to them.
How many people who have taken your course have reached the level where they earn 100,000 crowns a month?
– For all I know, it might be more than I realize since the course is self-study based. Straight arm, I can’t give you an answer, but it’s a number.
